Please see previous blog post on why this post is a month late, better late than never!
I have a few things I would like to achieve this year, I think you’re more likely to fail if you call them resolutions, so I’m just going to say that these are my aims for 2017. Hopefully, I can write a blog post in December to say I’ve achieved at least a couple of them.
I really want to work on the business this year. I thought last year, that the success of the business was based on having premises to work from and, although I loved having the shop, I have realised it’s what I put into the business that counts, not where I work from. This year, I am going to work on getting more corporate jobs. Providing balloon decor for parties is my bread and butter and I’ll never turn my nose up at it but I do feel like I have regular customers for parties now and would love to get some corporate functions. I have started working on advertising on this and have already had a phone call regarding a potential contract so hopefully, we’re off to a good start!
Michael and I also volunteer for our local Conservation Group and some training opportunities will be coming up in the near future so I’m looking forward to a new challenge. The group is starting the process of a community buyout of our local glen so I would like to attend local wildlife walks so I have an idea what to expect to be working towards in the years to come. I’m planning on doing blog posts about this as it will be good to look back on, almost like a diary of the progress we make.
We’ve been watching a few wildlife documentaries recently, mostly based in Scotland and it’s really made me want to discover more of our country this year. I do feel like we’ve explored a lot of Scotland but there is so much more to see! I really want to visit the Cairngorm National Park and some of the islands up north. I know you can’t exactly rely on the Scottish weather but we’re used to it by now. We’ll hopefully find a base where we can visit some of the islands just on day trips. I’ve not quite figured out how we’ll work it but I’ll start the planning on that pretty soon. I’m hoping to go just at the start of Autumn when the midgies are dying out!
I start off every year trying to be more organised, everyone probably does. Starting new planners and diaries that fade off towards the end of the year but I do feel like I’m getting better. I’ve started writing lists and there is definitely a sense of achievement when you cross everything off your to-do list.
I really want to focus (ha ha) on photography this year. I’m not sure about doing a course as I’ve heard mixed reviews but I was given a really good book as a Christmas present (and a tripod!) so I should have no excuses and I really do want to work on it. It’s a huge passion of mine and I’m eyeing up some nice DSLR’s but the penny pincher in me is waiting until I save up enough.
Of course, I’m hoping 2017 will bring a few date nights with hubby, maybe even a wee overnight for our anniversary. Lot’s of lunch dates planned with friends, let’s make them happen ladies (& Frankie).
Finally, my plans for this blog. I have a good amount of blog post ideas floating around my head so I’ll get those written down and get some sort of schedule figured out. I will get around to getting this blog looking as pretty as I imagine it. I don’t have any plans for nationwide fame, as long as my family and friends are still reading it, then I’m happy!
