I’m so happy it’s October.
I woke up this morning and there was a thick fog and Autumn seemed to have arrived with a bang. It was also only 5 degrees when I got into my car to go to work at 7am! Brrrr…
The UGGS have been well and truly dusted off and I’ve bought myself the first new items to add to my winter wardrobe. Primark and New Look have a gorgeous winter range in so I’ve promised my eldest daughter a shopping day soon. We already had a wee cheeky shop in town to purchase the Lush Halloween range but a proper girly shopping day is well overdue.
October is one of my favourite months. I LOVE Halloween and each year it seems to get more Americanised, with more houses decorated and a bigger range of decorations in the shops. Hubby and I are volunteers for a local conservation group, working to save our local glen and last year we held our first Halloween event. We held a kids and adults walk through the glen which we had decorated and had live actors dressed as zombies, scaring the heck out of everyone. It was a massive success and this years event planning is now well underway. There is so much to plan that it means this month will fly in but it’s so enjoyable. I didn’t even get time to dress up last year so I need to get that sorted, can’t have that happening again!
October is also the month the slow cooker comes out. I find it so much easier eating healthier when the weather is colder (apart from the amount of hot chocolate I drink). I love throwing in all the ingredients for a nice thick soup, going a cold Autumnal walk and coming home to it all ready for you. Lentil is definitely a favourite in this house, although I can’t make my stock with a chunk of meat now as Katie is a vegetarian but they still enjoy it.
So expect a lot of Autumn themed blog posts. We have a few favourite places to visit at this time of year so I can’t wait to share them on another platform that isn’t facebook. We also have a big birthday in the family this month. It has been requested that it is very low key but let’s face it, my wee blog readers won’t tell anyone that my cousin, Leslie Anne will turn the big 4-0 on Halloween! I might even try to bake you a cake (just for the blog pictures, haha).
I hope everyone is as excited for October as I am!
