So, my uploading a post every day hasn’t exactly gone to plan. Organising the house and working over the weekend put an end to that. It probably wasn’t the best time to start daily posts anyway, considering this is probably my busiest month of the year!
The list of jobs to be completed in September is slowly being ticked off, one by one. Autumn cleaning is now well under way. Cupboards have been cleaned out, skirting boards have been washed down and even the top of the kitchen units are now dust free (you know, just in case the visitors decide to look up there).
We also purchased a new bookshelf for the living room, we moved the furniture about so it was the perfect excuse. It’s just a basic one from Argos but we needed somewhere to store the SKY box and I’ve had some fun framing pictures and finding which books to put in it. We finally got round to putting up a mirror on the feature wall too and it’s made such a difference to the living room. I’m into Autumn mode already, now the living room has had a wee makeover, the curtains are closed early and the candles are lit, it’s so cosy!
Even though we have ticked off the majority of the to-do list, I still have a couple of jobs to do. I’d like to sort through the mounds of baby pictures and get them sorted into albums. It will be nice for Michael’s family to have a look through them when they arrive from Canada on Thursday.
I’m trying not to get stressed, I’m not very good at the hostess thing if I’m honest. Cooking for more than four people gives me the absolute fear. I’m figuring, if we eat out on the day they arrive and the night before they leave, it’s only four meals to worry about. Breakfast and lunch, I’m not worried about. I’m figuring they are family, and if I mess up then we’ll just have to laugh about it and get a takeaway!
The uploading might be a bit erratic for the next week or so but I will be taking lots of pictures of the various places we visit. This part I love! Showing people around and going out every day exploring is my idea of fun. The camera will be charged and there will be lots of posts in the coming weeks. I might even try and do a review on some of the tourist places we visit…
In other news, after my baking fail last week, I redeemed myself tonight and made the perfect batch of Scottish Tablet. Recipe to follow in tomorrow’s post.
